Introduction

Cat Cat Village is one of Sa Pa’s best-known traditional villages, established by the H’Mong community in the mid-19th century. Set at the foot of the Hoang Lien Son range, the village follows the mountain slopes with stone-paved paths, wooden houses, small streams and views over the surrounding valleys.

The village provides an opportunity to discover traditional H’Mong culture through linen weaving, indigo dyeing, embroidery and silver craftsmanship. Visitors can observe local artisans at work, explore traditional houses and browse handmade brocade products and other local crafts.

One of Cat Cat’s main natural highlights is Cat Cat Waterfall (Tien Sa Waterfall), where the stream flows through the village amid wooden bridges, water wheels and lush mountain scenery. Traditional cultural performances, including H’Mong music and dances, add to the visitor experience.

Cat Cat is best explored on foot, following the descending path through the village and returning uphill. The route includes numerous steps and can become slippery in wet weather, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The village can also be combined with a Sa Pa–Cat Cat–Sin Chai trekking route for a deeper experience of the surrounding mountain landscape and local communities.
