Silver Waterfall is situated on National Highway 4D, approximately 12–15 km northwest of central Sa Pa, near the foot of O Quy Ho Pass. At an elevation of around 1,800–2,000 metres, the waterfall drops nearly 200 metres down the mountainside, creating a striking white cascade that gives the waterfall its name.
The waterfall is surrounded by the rugged landscapes of the Hoang Lien Son range, with dense forests, mountain streams and dramatic valley views. During the rainy season, the increased water flow makes the waterfall particularly powerful and spectacular, while the cooler, drier months create a more tranquil atmosphere.
Visitors can follow the stone steps and viewing paths around the waterfall to see the cascade from different angles and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The surrounding area also provides opportunities for photography, cloud watching and short nature walks. After rainfall, rainbows can occasionally appear in the mist around the falls.
Silver Waterfall is particularly easy to combine with O Quy Ho Pass, Tram Ton and Fansipan, making it a convenient stop on a western Sa Pa sightseeing route. The high-altitude climate can change quickly, so comfortable non-slip footwear and a light rain jacket are recommended. In winter, temperatures can fall below freezing and snow or ice may occasionally occur.
