Thung Nham is a large ecological destination covering more than 300 hectares within the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. Its landscape combines limestone mountains, wetlands, forests, caves and gardens, creating a diverse environment for both wildlife and outdoor experiences.
The heart of the area is the Thung Nham Bird Garden, where visitors can take a traditional boat into the wetland to observe large numbers of resident and migratory birds. The bird garden covers around 18 hectares and is home to dozens of bird species. Late afternoon is particularly rewarding, when large flocks return to their nesting areas and fill the sky above the wetlands.
Beyond birdwatching, Thung Nham offers a variety of nature experiences. Visitors can explore Buddha Cave by boat, Mermaid Cave and Vai Gioi Cave, walk through gardens and orchards, and discover the area’s spiritual sites, including Goi Dai Temple and Linh Than Shrine. An ancient banyan tree, estimated to be more than a thousand years old, is another distinctive feature of the landscape.
Thung Nham is particularly suitable for travellers looking for a slower, nature-oriented experience away from busy sightseeing routes. It can be combined with Tam Coc, Bich Dong Pagoda and Trang An, while the bird garden and boat excursions make it especially attractive for families, photographers and nature enthusiasts.
