Located along the shore of Xuan Huong Lake, Lam Vien Square forms a prominent public gathering place in the centre of Da Lat. The approximately 72,000-square-metre complex was developed as a major urban project, combining expansive open areas with contemporary architectural features. Since opening in 2016, it has become a recognisable part of the city’s modern landscape.
The square’s most distinctive features are two large glass structures inspired by the region’s botanical identity. One resembles a giant wild sunflower, with curved yellow and green glass panels surrounding an open interior space. The other takes the form of an artichoke flower, a reference to a plant widely associated with Da Lat’s agriculture and local products. Their bold shapes and colours create a contrast with the surrounding highland scenery.
Beyond its architecture, Lam Vien Square is an important venue for community activities, cultural performances and major celebrations, including events associated with the Da Lat Flower Festival. Its open layout connects the city centre with Xuan Huong Lake and nearby commercial areas, making the square both a contemporary urban landmark and a gathering place that reflects Da Lat’s identity as Vietnam’s City of Flowers.
