Dragon Bridge is one of Da Nang’s most recognisable landmarks, spanning the Han River and connecting the city centre with the eastern coastal area. Officially opened on 29 March 2013, the bridge measures 666 metres long and 37.5 metres wide, with six traffic lanes. Its distinctive steel structure is designed in the shape of a golden dragon inspired by Vietnamese cultural symbolism, representing prosperity, strength and the city’s aspirations for development.
The bridge is particularly striking after dark, when colourful LED lights illuminate the dragon’s winding body and reflect across the Han River. Its signature fire-and-water performance brings the design to life, with the dragon breathing fire before spraying water into the air. This combination of contemporary engineering and traditional symbolism has made Dragon Bridge an enduring symbol of Da Nang’s modern identity.
Situated in the heart of the city, Dragon Bridge forms part of the scenic Han River waterfront, surrounded by other notable landmarks, including Love Bridge and the Carp Turning into a Dragon statue. The illuminated bridge and its riverside setting create a distinctive urban landscape, showcasing Da Nang’s blend of modern architecture, cultural character and vibrant city life.
