Surrounded by the emerald waters of the An Thoi Archipelago, Hon Thom is known for its tropical scenery, sandy beaches and rich marine environment. Beaches such as Bai Nom, Bai Nam and Bai Chuong offer opportunities to relax by the sea, enjoy the coastal landscape and swim when conditions are suitable. The island’s clear waters and coral habitats also make the surrounding area appealing for snorkelling and other marine activities, subject to weather and local conditions.
One of the island’s signature experiences is the Hon Thom Cable Car, a sea-crossing journey of approximately 7.9 kilometres that takes around 15 minutes from the An Thoi area. Recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s longest three-rope cable car route, it offers sweeping aerial views of the sea, scattered islands and fishing boats below.
On arrival, visitors can explore Sun World Hon Thom, home to Aquatopia Water Park and Exotica Village, which offer water rides, adventure attractions and panoramic viewpoints. Dining options add to the experience, with seafood and other local dishes available around the island’s tourism complex. The dry season, generally from November to April, is often favourable for beach activities and sea excursions. Hon Thom can easily be combined with a visit to An Thoi Harbour or Sunset Town for a varied day exploring southern Phu Quoc.
