Introduction

Mua Cave, also known as Hang Múa, lies within the core area of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The attraction is centred around Ngoa Long Mountain, a limestone peak shaped by millions of years of geological development.

The main experience is the climb of 486 stone steps to the mountain summit. The staircase is lined with carved stone sculptures, including dragon and phoenix motifs, reflecting traditional Vietnamese architectural symbolism. The climb is moderately strenuous but provides increasingly impressive views along the way.

At the summit, visitors are rewarded with a 360-degree panorama of Tam Coc and the surrounding countryside. The Ngo Dong River winds between limestone mountains and rice fields below, while small boats appear along the waterways. A dragon sculpture and Buddhist-style stupa stand prominently on the summit, making the viewpoint particularly popular for photography.

Mua Cave is especially attractive during May and June, when the surrounding rice fields create a striking green-to-golden landscape. However, the viewpoint remains rewarding throughout the year, particularly on clear mornings or late afternoons when temperatures are more comfortable for climbing.

The site is best combined with Tam Coc–Bich Dong, Trang An and Hoa Lu Ancient Capital. Visitors should allow sufficient time for the climb, wear comfortable shoes and take care on the stone steps, particularly in wet weather.
