Sao Beach, also known as Bai Sao, is one of Phu Quoc’s most picturesque beaches, renowned for its crescent-shaped coastline, powdery white sand and clear turquoise waters. Framed by green hills and tropical vegetation, the beach offers a peaceful coastal setting that contrasts with the busier resort areas along the island’s western shore. Visitors can stroll along the shoreline, relax beneath the palm trees or enjoy swimming when sea conditions are suitable.
Beyond its natural beauty, Sao Beach offers a variety of seaside activities, including kayaking and other water sports, depending on weather conditions and local availability. Beachfront restaurants and casual eateries serve fresh seafood, grilled fish, squid and other local specialities, giving visitors the chance to savour Phu Quoc’s coastal cuisine while enjoying views of the sea.
The dry season, generally from November to April, is often the most favourable time to visit, when clearer skies and calmer waters create better conditions for beach activities. Sao Beach can also be combined with other attractions in southern Phu Quoc, such as the An Thoi archipelago and the Hon Thom cable car, making it a rewarding stop on a day of island exploration.
